Emerald the Fashion Icon of Queen Cleopatra

Between the time of 69BC and 30BC, the beautiful Queen of Egypt Cleopatra started love affair of world with emerald green in her region. Her chosen jewel was emerald and she was famous for to decorate herself with them endlessly.

Cleopatra introduced a style craze at that time which has continued as style icon unobstructed to now.  The rich and renowned personalities in history have wholeheartedly followed them and continue to do so.
The emerald has never been out of good turn, a fact that is supported in more recent times by emerald devotees including the British sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Taylor, Marlene Dietrich and even Napoleon Bonaparte who chose them for his empress, Josephine. But it is Cleopatra to whom one must look as the title holder of the emerald.

No emeralds fit in to this renowned queen have survived but she is known to have been completely captivated by them and chronological the books exist of her being draped in emerald covered mantles on occasions. The outstanding Emerald mines of Egypt, located in the hills inland from the Red Sea in Egypt's eastern desert region, were owned by Cleopatra.

It was a hard job for the ancient miners braved severe heat temperature, scorpions and snakes to hunt for the ‘GREEN FIRE’. The high officials and ambassadors who visited beyond from Egypt honoured them with emeralds gifts by Queen Cleopatra during their visits.
Apart from the delightful culture with Cleopatra what is it that makes the emerald such a obsessive stone?
In very old record it was related with the goddess Venus - the supernatural being of attractiveness and adores which gave it a head start in the renowned stakes separately from anything else. Emeralds are much rarer than diamonds and only suitors of huge wealth could impart so invaluable a gift on a lady.

It is the birthstone for the month of May and the wedding anniversary gemstone for the 20th and 35th year of wedding. This explains why a gift of emerald on these events is considered very suitable.

Symbolizing the renewing cycle of life and of springtime, the controlling brilliant green of the emerald secures its emblematic status in many of the world's cultures and faiths. Christianity for example regards it as the most major of the liturgical colours being a symbol of faith, hope and renovation.

It is the colour of accepted record, wealth and life. A ground of green grass is the most comforting colour to the eye in life.  Green is an unseen well-known colour sign around the world to stand for safety. It is used broadly in the communal globe as a branding colour

The emerald when cut, cultured and faceted has the most outstanding force and deepness which describe the human eye like bees to a honey pot. Its place next to the diamond as the most chosen jewel is well good enough.

But do not wait for these beauties with the clearest outside and lively colours to come with a 'bargain-basement' sales tag. Because of their lack, are usually more costly than a diamond of similar carat weight.

Becoming the buyer or donor of such a uncommon wealth can set you back strict money unless like Cleopatra you have an awareness in an emerald mine or two. But do not desolation just yet since there is a way around that.
